JBLM, February 19, 2013 - McChord Composite Squadron changes commander at the Change of Command Ceremony on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. The command and colors of the Squadron passed from (outgoing commander) Capt Katie Gabb to (incoming commander) Capt Donald Warren. The Senior Member presented is the Area Commander, Lt Col Lewis. The Change of Command is a simple, traditional event that is rich with symbolism and heritage.

The Key to the change of command is the passing of the Unit's Colors. These Colors represent not only the Heritage and History of the unit. But also the unity and loyalty of its soldiers. The colors are the commander's symbol of authority representing his responsibility to the organization. Wherever the commander is, there also are the colors. The custodian of the colors is the Cadet First Sergeant, as a senior enlisted cadet in the unit.

The ceremony begins as Cadet First Sergeant Max Warren passes the colors to Capt Katie Gabb. She then passes the colors to Lt Col Lewis, thereby relinquishing her responsibilities and authority. Lt Col Lewis passes the colors to Capt Donald Warren charging the new commander with the same responsibility and authority.
